We at TEACHMEISLAM are very pleased to share that we have donated 100% of our revenue from our Ramadan courses to charity this year. Being the blessed Month of Ramadan the month of fasting, but also giving and supporting the less fortunate around the world. We came to know of the Yemen Crisis and the emergency support they required and after working closely with the incredible team at Forgotten Women we together made it happen Alhamdulilah.

As Forgotten Women mention: ‘The year 2021 has been labelled the ‘Year of Hope’ across nations, let’s use this month to restore hope to those in need.

Forgotten Women are a charity organisation that stand for women helping women in many countries around the globe and we chose Yemen this Ramadan.

Ramadan is the best month for Muslims to give, to help people not just in Islam but in humanity, “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”  The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)’

Why we chose Yemen? The worst place in the world right now is Yemen. The UN has declared Yemen to be the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. With the country suffering from mass starvation, more than 80 percent of the population lacks food, drinking water and access to health care services. Yemen is very likely to be hit by the COVID-19 pandemic which will wreak havoc on the people of Yemen as they are already weakened by starvation and dehydration.

Women have to walk up to three hours to collect their rations of basic food for survival and then have to make the same journey back, carrying both food and their children in their arms in the unbearable heat of over 45 degrees over barren land. Access to basic food is not always available and as a result women are the most malnourished and children are dying from starvation. With the donation we have been blessed to help a total of 50 families with longer lasting food packs and big water tanks that will support 50 families in Yemen and has already reached them too, each family no less than 4 members.

What each food pack includes for each family that will last them upto 7 weeks:

  • Rice
  • flour
  • Cooking Oil
  • Sugar
  • Tea
  • Black Beans
  • Dates
  • Lentils

Each water tank has 5000 litres of fresh water that supports 15 families in one area. We have been able to give 2 of them totalling to 30 families to have access to fresh clean water. Our donations were distributed during the odd nights of the last days of Ramadan with the intention of the night of Power (Laylatul Qadr). As each good deed on this night in reward is equivalent to engaging in it for a thousand months.

Thank you to all the TMI students who took on a Ramadan course to benefit yourself, to our incredible TMI tutors who delivered these lessons for the benefit of the students and charity and the full TMI Team alongside the great charity Forgotten women for making this possible. This is our second year running and we will continue to restore hope and faith every year.

We did this together we made a positive difference and restoring hope for our mothers, sisters and families in Yemen this year ♥️
